Corn: Sweet Country Gentleman
Old-time home gardeners' favorite! The white, round kernels are irregularly arranged instead of in rows, giving the ears a striking and heirloom appearance. 8-inch cobs produce milky, sweet, tender kernels. The ears remain in the milk stage longer than many varieties, producing two ears per stalk. A favorite for freezing and creamed corn. Well adapted to the northern Mid-Atlantic. More resistant to corn smut than other, smaller varieties. This variety was introduced in 1890 by S.D. Woodruff & Sons of Orange, Connecticut. One of the best heirloom sweet corns.
