Tomato: Patriot Slicer Mix
An equal parts mix of our most patriotic slicing tomatoes! Blue Fire, Blonde Boar, and Peron.
Blue Fire- A very unusual, flashy tomato that starts green moves to deep blue, and then ripens to red and black, eventually becoming covered with gold speckles.
Originally from the tomato collection of Bill Minkey. We have found that this tomato tastes much better than most other antho-heavy varieties. The plant is indeterminant but prefers to stay short and spread horizontally versus vertically. The fruit will be the darkest where the most sun hits it.
Blonde Boar- Very pale yellow/white with green stripes that turn gold. Recent variety developed by Brad Gates, USA. Round fruits from 90 to 120 grams. Sometimes a slight pink blush appears on the apical end at full maturity. Juicy flesh with a tangy flavor, totally different from other "white tomatoes"! The plants' high development and dense foliage. Excellent mid-season production.
Peron- Deep-red, dual-purpose canning, and slicing sort. Smooth, slightly oblate fruit is very dense-fleshed and meaty and shows very little core. Fruit runs 3-6 ounces; the flavor is very good. Skins are very thick and tough, simplifying peeling when processing, and making the crack-resistant fresh fruits keep extremely well. Developed prior to 1954 by Prof. Abelardo Piovano of Argentina. Also known as Peron Sprayless Semi-determinate vines are fairly disease resistant.
